Top 5… Fictional Men

Yet another installment of this fun little game.  Here are the top five fictional men I wouldn’t mind being stranded alone with.  As always the rule applies that there is no order to this list.

Of course Edward Cullen should also be on this list but I figured that was a given so here are the other five that I would group with him.

Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy

Pride and Prejudice- How can anyone look down upon someone so carefully guarded of his personal life?  There must be a good reason it is so hard to crack his serious exterior.  Who doesn’t love Mr. Darcy?

Theodore ‘Laurie’ Lawrence

Little Women- I guess I’m always a sucker for the guy that confesses his love only to be turned down.  It really takes guts to take that chance.

Balian de Ibelin

Kingdom of Heaven- This poor guy has lost his child, lost his wife (she killed herself after their baby died), had his father walk into his life, had his father die, survived a ship wreck, befriended a king, and fought for Jerusalem.  How can anyone not want to be a part of this very dynamic character’s life?

Dr. Carlisle Cullen

Twilight- He’s completely altruistic, family oriented, and 100% committed to Esme (lucky woman).  I’d be ok with being adopted even! (I only said that Edward wasn’t on this list)

Carpathian Men

Any and all of Christine Feehan’s Carpathian men.  Wikipedia describes them best.

The Dark Series introduces the Carpathians, a powerful and ancient race. They have many gifts, including the ability to shape-shift, and extended life spans, living over 1000 years. Though they feed on human blood, they don’t kill their human prey, and for the most part live among humans without detection. Despite their gifts, the Carpathians are on the edge of extinction. There have been few children born to them in the past few centuries, and those that have been born are all male and often die in the first year. It has been more than 500 years since a female has been born. In the absence of their female counterparts, also known as “lifemates”, male Carpathians lose the ability to feel emotions and to see in color. The only feeling left to them is the thrill of making a kill. Once a male has done this, he loses his soul and “turns”, becoming the monster of human legend, the vampire or the “undead”. With so few females left, males are forced to make a stark choice: either become vampire or “greet the dawn” (i.e. commit suicide). However, when they do find a lifemate, the ability to see in color and their emotions are restored to them, and their souls are saved.

The Great Hair Dabate

While giving poor R a little time to sleep in on xmas morn I came across a yahoo article announcing Robert Pattinson cut his hair.  I had to look.  I like it both ways really.  But reading some of his fans quotes on it they are devastated.  Which makes me wonder if they are sad that Rob cut his hair or that Edward did.

Reality check people… Robert Pattinson plays a character.  You may love the character just the way he is but please realize that the man playing this beloved character is just that… a man.  One that does everything you do.  He laughs, cries, makes the occasional party foul, and farts just like the rest of us.  Yes, I said it.  Rob is not Edward.  Edward is what we call fictional.  Understand that please.  You can love how Rob portrays Edward and you can love Edward but please understand that there is a difference between these two creatures.

Now, for the pictures.

Before

After

Just Enough… ugh!

For those that follow my ramblings on a fairly regular basis know about my new founded passion for Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series.  I’ve read all of the books (rereading them now), seen the movie (more than once), and own several Twilight themed items.  So, you can easily understand how excited I was when I was sent a link to the leaked partial rough draft of the newest in the series Midnight Sun.  It’s a brilliant piece of literature focusing on a deeper character development than the rest of the series.  In it’s simplest form it is a retelling of Twilight from the character Edward’s point of view.  His internal struggles are amazingly well written.  You really do feel sorry for him and it lets a bit of light in on some of his stranger behavior that we could only observe through the main character Bella’s eyes.  Sadly this is a relatively short piece (only 264 pages) but it is worth reading.  I warn you that if you do read this one it will frustrate you to no end that it isn’t complete.

For the official copy go to Stephanie Meyer’s site here. You can also read a little more about what happened in regards to it being leaked.  I hope you all enjoy is as much as I have!  Let me know what you all think once you’re finished reading it.

While I’m waiting for your thoughts I think I’ll continue feeding my addiction.  If you’ll excuse me now please.

Furthering My Addiction

Like most women I’m a real sucker for a musically inclined guy.   Some ladies prefer drummers, others like the guitar gods, I’m partial to the singers. Always have been.  Guess you can blame that one on my music camp experiences.  (I’ll let your imagination go where it may… it might just be right too.)

Today I had to have a test run in the morning then go back for the results in the afternoon.  This left me about two hours to wander around Hellmart.

I made my laps a few times.  Searching for the clearance section that I never found I kept passing a soundtrack.  As I would slowly wander by pretending to look at other items it kept calling to me in it’s little disky voice.  Hello lady.  I think you need to adopt me.  I know I will make you happy. I knew I had to have it.  First, I had to decide what the possibility of getting said soundtrack for xmas.  Not real likely.  And at once it jumped off the shelf straight into my unsuspecting basket.  Tricky little disk.  Hehe

Now of course that little guy couldn’t wait to strip off his wrapper and jump straight into my waiting cd player once we were in the car.  I was really stunned at how great these songs were.  I couldn’t help but to jump straight to the last song on the disk by Carter Burwell – Bella’s Lullaby.  I don’t know if it’s the lingering meds or what those meds have done to my hormones but I was fighting tears (ok it could be that I read almost all of the last book’s 700+ pages in one sitting yesterday).  I love my repeat button.  Then at a stop sign I took a quick glance at one of the other songs that made me smile only to find that it is sung by Robert (Rob) Pattinson himself!!!  That’s Edward Cullen to you book people out there who haven’t seen the movie.

Now I have to question the sanity of anyone that can see this beautiful man singing and NOT get all mushy inside.  Or, again, it’s probibally just the hormones.
